Asalamo alaikum,

I just thought I'd create one thread for "Free Live Events" that take place online thorugh SunniPath, Al-Maghrib and other Islamic Organizations so we can all contribute to the thread when necessary w/o having to contact mods and such.

So, I just came to know that SunniPath.com will be hosting an event this Saturday Click me for event info.

"Through giving us His 99 names, Allah Most High has given all of humanity the tremendous opportunity to know Him. We were all created for Him, and knowing His names is another blessed means to understand and increase in our worship of Him.

What is the meaning of being one who encompasses His names? Why is it important to know the 99 names of Allah? How do we become spiritually attached to the names of Allah. How do we bring the names of Allah into practice?

These are just some of the questions that Shaykh Sulayman Van Ael will answer, in our exciting CourseLens on January 2nd, 2 - 3:30 pm GMT. May this be a means of your spiritual flight towards Allah. Seats are limited. Many of our events fill up in between 1-2 days so make sure you register now!

This event is open to all, and we encourage you to invite your friends and family."

Don't forget, you do need to register in order to attend.

The following seminar is taking place through the Al-Maghrib Institution lead by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi, Breads and Threads: Dress Right. Eat Right, on Wednesday, January 6, 2010, 7PM EST.

As Muslims, our fundamental purpose of existence is to worship Allah (swt) alone. This worship includes following the legislation and guidelines set by Allah (swt) to show our love and respect for Him. But how is it possible for us to worship Him correctly without the knowledge of what is right and wrong?

Get a preview of Precious Provisions: The Fiqh of Food and Clothing by tuning in to Shaykh Yasir’s ilminar where he will be discussing the rewards of acquiring food and clothing through halal means, and the related punishments for being neglectful.

Don't forget to reserve your spot to attend =)

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

My Companions are like the stars, whoever among them you use for guidance, you will be rightly guided.
[al-Bayhaqi & Ibn Abd al-Barr]

The Khulafa al-Rashidoon (Rightly Guided Caliphs) are the very best of men, and the proof of Islam. Trained by the greatest teacher of all time, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), the Rightly Guided Caliphs were extraordinary men who led the Muslim empire into victory. Through the guiding light of Islam, these men were elevated from their previous states to stations of tremendous success in both this life and the next.

This CourseLens will describe key vignettes from the lives of each of the Khulafa, demonstrating the proof of Prophethood. Join Ustadha Noura Shamma on Saturday, January 16th, 3:30 pm GMT to 5 pm GMT, on an exciting journey through time, as we learn about these great men and their impact on the history of Islam

BTw Sara, I think after you register, you get a link for the lecture. If you miss the lecture the same link is used to recasting. Bummer you missed out on the Companion's feed. The Muhammad Al-Shareef person, is he a motivational speaker or something? He's got the whole hybrid thing going Religious Talk + Motivational Speeches, he's kind of cluttering my inbox and I don't find his lectures to consist of *light bulb moments*! (=() You know the times when you're like 'Ohh!'. Anyways, that's just my view, I'm sure others may find him *super* useful and a great resource. The whole hybrid thing is nice I guess, it can be tweaked but for starting it all, he should get some credit.

*sigh* that sux.. I usually end up having classes when these lectures r on so i just put them on recording and listen to them whenever but i totally missed this one and i dont think i registered coz i didnt get an email o.o .
He is the founder of AlMaghrib and pretty much does everything from teaching the classes to motivational speeches. Lol i loved his ramadhan ilminar and i was listening to his time management series the other day which helped me a lot so i guess the one's u came across were not so good o.o? .. i guess it also depends if the ongoing topic is something u take particular intrest in or not, like for me i was totally looking forward to manage time im ramadhan and get the most out of it so the ilminar helped me a lot ..

i think u can delete the *ullu* post above u from the thread. People who have nothing constructive to say or add anything relevant to this topic can go spam somewhere else sleep.gif ..

lol @ ullu posts! Quite a few those around here these days. Khair, I took your suggestion into account, apologies to those whose conversations have been removed.

I didn't know that he's the mastermind behind Al-Maghrib?! Wow, that's remarkable. That's actually a well known and respected institution across the globe. You should have told me earlier about the link, I would have e-mailed it to you. Khair, koi gul nai'ee, there will be many more opportunities my friend =)

Where Is God in Haiti?
Lecture and Q&A Session with Sheikh Nuh Keller

“Allah suffices us, and is the best to rely on.” (Qur’an 3:173)

The recent earthquake in Haiti has destroyed homes, damaged infrastructure, and the Haitian government has now confirmed a death toll of 170,000 and estimated over 300,000 injured. To add to the disaster, the rescue and relief efforts are severely limited by a shortage of resources.

In light of such large-scale destruction, many are left asking how this could happen and are now searching for answers. Where is the Divine Mercy in all of this? Where is justice? Where is the Divine Wisdom? Many atheists are now using this as another example that God does not exist. Sheikh Nuh Keller will offer a reply.

Event timing

REGISTER + ASK YOUR QUESTIONS

Someone, either a friend from MP or from Facebook referred me to an upcoming event via generic e-mail. I posted the question on Facebook and I'm going to post it here, Thank you for bringing the event to my attention (: The curiosity of it all is getting the best of me though so please leave me a message revealing identity. 1.gif

This is big you guys. It's not free but it it's affordable. According to their fan page on Facebook, the registration fee will be $5. $5 gets you a seat in a series of lectures hosted by some renowned lecturers. Proceeds from the event will also be going towards the Haitian Earthquake relief fun so it's win-win situation really.

If anything, this is a gala for dialogue.

So more about the event now (8.gif):

Celebrate Mercy, is an event being held in order to commemorate the memory of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). They've even got some contests running as well volunteer opportunities via the web etc. so it's all through the internet minus the flyers bit I believe.

Seats are limited. Registration however has not opened yet. I just pre-registered last night and I think registration inclusive of the proposed $5 fee will open sometime tonight. I'll keep you posted.

Just a quick reminder guys, today at 5:30 pm today for the Thursday, Feb 25th event. There is a repeat telecast on Sunday Feb 28th I think for those living outside of North America. The repeat is taking place so those out of NA can login to view the event at a more comfortable time.

Shaykh Hamza Yusuf is *confirmed* along with a whole other bunch of speakers. I'd be lying if I didn't say I was excited and yes I've already purchased my ticket. They've got this option of sponsoring tickets for others/donating too whilst filling out the form incase anyone is interested.

I think this is going to be huge considering everything has been conducted through the web - setting up viewing stations, creating teams of volunteers etc. etc.

Here's the official trailer.

Hope to see some of you there! *=D*

Asalamo alaikum!
