How bad is your eyesight?

It is a fairly new procedure. It was approved like a decade ago by the FDA so nobody really knows the long term effects of it. Keeping that in mind, I personally wouldn't go for it unless I was suffering from a high degrees of myopia (nearsightedness) or hyperopia (farsightedness) or distortion of vision like irregular astigmastism. That's something that can't be fixed with glasses.

However, if you feel like you should have it...then it's your choice. The recovery time is pretty fast and it gives you immediate results. Your eyes will get tired pretty quickly (for about 2-3 days) after the surgery but after that you're fine. Also you can't rub your eyes so you might have to wear goggles or other protective ware when you're sleeping. Just make sure eye surgeon is skilled and experienced. The outcome highly depends on a doctor. There are few drawbacks - which depends on your age, eye and health conditions. They say that 1 in 6 people usually encounter problems after the surgery - like double vision or dry eye or other eye infections.

There are several factors that need to be taken into consideration. In my opinion people who are diabetic should stay away altogether. Also I know people who have lost all vision in their laser operated eye. What happened was that the laser procedure made scars on the retina in the back of the eye. After a few years part of the retina came loose and sort of just turned over. As a result such people have lost all or complete sight in that eye. Upon investigation it was found that during the laser surgery, the laser had accidently made those scars. But the damage had been done. What further complicated the matter was that the person was diabetic. So I learned my lesson from such a case. My eyesight is -1.75 in both eyes. All doctors recommend against any form of eye surgery for me.

Right now i'm using contacts, but i'm going for laser operation in January 2010 from Al-Shifa.
I have consulted different eye specialists and they all said theres no drawback.

it depends
ppl with nearsightedness..have a better advantage with lasik
then ppl with farsightedness..not so much..they do need some corrective glasses later on in life
for example..some like me..who needs to wear glasses/contacts all the time for driving or tv..it can help me alot..but i want to wait till i m 30+..i m a lil scared
my dad got lasik done..he only needed reading glasses..so one of his eyes is good for far vision and other one is good for near vision..and at times he complains...first couple of weeks ur brain is a bit confused then it gets used to it.
so its really cheap here though..but i have to pay for other stuff and lasik is so not on my list just now

it takes 10 secs at most. Very painless. After that, your eyes will be irritated for a week and then you'll go blind... eerr did I say blind? I mean, you'll be fine

Good luck. Hope your eye color turn greenish pink

If anybody needs some surgery, then I do.
I hate wearing glasses/contacts. My mom is too scared for it.

I do not recommend you the surgery, aviod it,if u have not undergone it yet, rather I strongly suggest you to use some YOGA exercises for eyes..it will really help u recover ur eye sight ...

one of such exercise is :
(1) First of all, you should sit upright keeping your eyes open.

(2) Look at a point straight to your nose in front of you and then look at a point on the floor, but do not move your head. Without moving your head, roll your eyes upwards and downwards at least four times. Blink your eyes rapidly after the completion of this exercise.I heard they really help..there is no harm in trying though.

(3) Now roll your eyes sideways, i.e., left and right. Blink your eyes rapidly after this too.

(4) Now roll your eyes diagonally upwards and downwards. Blink your eyes rapidly again.

(5) Then close your eyes for some time.

(6) After one week of this exercise, roll your eyes in a circular way like, top, right, down, left, etc.

#This will help improve your eyesight. Do this for one month and see the results.

Watching pornography allegedly increases blood circulation to your eyeballs as your pupils dilate. That should bring your eyesight back to 20/20 vision. hahah.
