^ JazakAllah.

Asalamo alaikum people !!

Just a few quick announcements:

Soon Inshallah, we should be done the first two set of recitation, there are 5 siparah's from the first set that are being read and 4 from the second.

I'll post the sign up for the fourth reading shortly, probably on Monday night (EST).

Lastly, I'm sure most of you already know this but I just wanted get it out there that please do take the time out to listen to the translation of what it is that you're reading. It's super super important. To get the most of out your readings it's imperative to listen to the translation because that is how we bring about "the change" in ourselves.

What purpose does it serve if we whiz past the arabic and not really bring about changes in ourselves or understand what has been ordained for us?

The Qur'an serves two important purposes (from my understsanding), one dealing with its recitation and second stemming from deciphering the message. There is sawab in reciting the arabic and listening to the arabic. Then there is your job as a muslim to understand what the arabic means so that you come know what God has written in his book and essentially incorporate that in your daily routine.

How else will we come to know of what's written if we don't listen to the translation?

QUOTE
The Recitation Of The Holy Quran And Contemplating And Deliberating On It.

a) The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) said:
"Woe is upon the one who recites the divine Ayats, but dose not contemplates and thinks about it."

cool.gif Amir-ul-Momenin Ali (A.S.) said:
"Beware, there is no good in recitation (of the Holy Quran) and not deliberating and thinking on it."

c) Amir-ul-Momenin Ali (A.S.) said:
"Learn the (Holy) Quran as it is the best of the speeches and think and reflect on it as it is the spring of the hearts."

d) Imam Sadiq (A.S.) while interpreting the Ayats of the Holy Quran, the right to the recitation of the Quran is thinking and pause over every Ayat, which propounds about the Heaven and the Hell.

Wow, this is exciting! We're so close to finishing the first Qur'an. Subhanallah. happy.gif

To add to what MzAflatoon has said, recitation of Al-Qur'an has immense rewards. For each ayat (sign) recited there is a reward of 10 points, Mashallah. As mentioned however, for those who are non-Arabic speakers it is equally important to be able to understand what one is reading, which is why it is encouraged to either listen to the translation or read the tafseer of the Qur'an.

There are numerous resources that offer different translations of the Qur'an ranging from Abdullah Yusuf Ali to more contemporary translators which one may refer to online. In addition, they are often accompanied by the beautiful recitations from a range of qaris. Below I have listed some such websites.

www.quranexplorer.com

http://www.quran.com

http://allahsquran.com

http://www.quranflash.com/

And for those of you that may need help in working on your tajweed the following site should be of assistance.

Thanks Kish Mish, I was worried that they may have gone unaccounted for.

‘Abdullaah ibn ‘Amr ibn Al-’Aas heard the Prophet (SAW) saying: “It will be said to the companion of the Qur’an: Read and elevate (through the levels of the Paradise) and beautify your voice as you used to do when you were in the dunyaa! For verily, your position in the Paradise will be at the last verse you recite!” [Aboo Daawood and At-Tirmithee, Sahih]

Jazakallah everyone once again =).

Alright guys, there are about 8 or 9 days (depending on where you are) remaining till the end of Ramadhan. So I just wanted to make a couple of announcements.

I'm hoping to hear back from some of you as the days go by hopefully *before* Eid Inshallah. If you feel that you can not finish your Siparah's then please PM me so I can get started on them. Thank you (=

I was also wondering if anyone would be interested in reciting the Khatam-ul-Qur'an Dua? That's open to everyone - those who participated or not. I'm going to have to post one anyway so it would be nice if someone from the group/forum would volunteer for it. It can be done anonymously. No pressure though 8.gif

That's all for now - I hope you're all able to continue to maximize the benefits of this month during the last few days.

Peace.

Alhumdolilah, the first recitation has been completed. =) Mubarak ho peeps! Once again, JazakAllahu khair everbody for participating. I'll write a little more once I'm back, it's almost iftaari time here and I'm still searching my silly iclicker *sigh*. ... we're just waiting on me for the third recitation to be completed .. *soon* Inshallah.

Keep checking back and please update me as you go along. For those who've PM'ed me, I'll respond to you guys later tonight Inshallah. I've been searching for that iclicker for the past 3 hours. *sigh*

MzAflatoon - I didn't sign-up for reading the individual Juz till the end, since I was confused about the intention behind doing this. However, now, I feel convinced that this is a decent way of motivating people on the forum to participate in Quran recitation, during the month Ramadan.

So, with that intention, I wanted to share that I am almost done with my one complete Quran except for 29th and 30th juz, which I will complete before iftaar today, insh'Allah. So, In case you don't hear back from the forum members who had signed up for the reading earlier, you can go ahead and update those juzz with my name.

Jazak'Allah khair.
